Set Your Dates 📅
What you'll learn: How to enter your birthdate and joining date into Ava so your team can celebrate your milestones.
This is the most personal thing you'll do in Ava — and it takes less than a minute!
Why Set Your Dates?
When you add your dates, Ava will automatically post a celebration message in your team's channel on:
- 🎂 Your birthday — so your teammates can wish you well
- 💼 Your work anniversary — recognising the day you joined the team
You won't need to do anything on the day itself. Ava handles it.
How to Set Your Dates
-
Open Microsoft Teams and find Ava in your Apps or in the team where it's installed.
-
Click on Ava to open the bot interface.
-
Select Set Dates from the menu.
-
A form will appear with two fields:
- Birthdate — enter your day and month (and optionally your year)
- Joining Date — enter the date you started at the company
-
Click Save.
You'll see a confirmation message from Ava once your dates have been saved.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to provide my birth year?
No. The year is optional. If you'd prefer not to share your age, you can provide just your day and month — Ava only needs those to know when to celebrate you.
Can I update my dates later?
Yes! Just open Ava, go to Set Dates, and enter the new information. Your previous dates will be replaced.
What if I accidentally entered the wrong date?
Simply follow the steps above again with the correct date. Ava will update your record immediately.
Who can see my dates?
Your exact birthdate (including year, if provided) is only visible to admins. Other team members will only see that it's your birthday — not the year.
Tip: Skip the year if you prefer
You're never required to share your birth year. Ava works perfectly with just the day and month. 🎂
Note: My admin already imported my dates
If your admin used the Import Data feature to add your dates in bulk, they may already be in the system. You can still open Set Dates to review and update them if anything is wrong.
